UPDATE

Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief will be deploying to Hammond, Louisiana. Hammond is 45 miles east of Baton Rouge and 45 miles NW of New Orleans with a population of 21,359.

This morning, the State Feeding Unit, the Tri-County Recovery Unit, the Geyer Springs FBC Shower and Laundry Unit, the State Communications Unit, and two commercial generators were deployed to Louisiana.

Chaplains and assessors will be sent out at the end of the week. The Arkansas River Valley and Northwest Association Chainsaw teams will be deployed this weekend, and the Balboa unit will arrive Monday.

Significant flooding and damage have been reported across the area with power being knocked out to a large population in Louisiana and Mississippi. Estimated times of power being restored vary but most are weeks from now, if not longer.

PRAY

Continue to pray for the Louisiana and Mississippi Disaster Relief leadership as they prepare for incoming teams, search for housing sites for incoming DR volunteers, and coordinate with other states to provide for survivors

Pray for our IMT as we begin to set up for deploying volunteers.

Continue to pray for the survivors as they begin the process of rebuilding and that God would open the hearts of those who need to hear the Gospel and provide comfort amid turmoil

Pray for the travel of all volunteers as they head down to help and minister to survivors.

Continue to pray that DR volunteers would be spiritually prepared for ministry opportunities and to minister to survivors.
