What’s wrong with me?

“What’s wrong with me?” I have heard these words too many times. What do you say to a child in foster care who has been waiting too long for a forever family and can’t understand why? Each day that winds to a close is another piece of childhood lost waiting for safe adults to come on the scene and create the belonging every child needs.

Where are the Christian families who will utter the sacred words, “You belong here”? These words offer security and create the confidence each child needs to find their place in the world. These words are a direct reflection of God’s pursuit of us through the incarnation of the Savior and the entirety of Scripture that points to His redeeming love.

The need to belong is at the core of our human condition, but through the blood of Christ comes the offer to belong to the family of God. This relentless pursuit of the Father reveals His character and our worth. “See what great love the Father has given us that we should be called God’s children — and we are!” 1 John 3:1 CSB

When there are more churches in Arkansas than children waiting to be adopted, why are so many children asking with each passing day, “What is wrong with me”? Will God’s adopted children give the experience of belonging to the waiting children of Arkansas? Go to www.connectedfoster.care to find out how you can give the experience of family to a child or support those who are embracing this challenge.
