Redemption through Christian counseling

The first chapter of humanity gives only a glimpse of what life was like before sin: Like an enemy ambush, brokenness stormed the earth forever leaving its mark on mankind. The story, having just begun, took a major turn of events, and what God had designed for good was headed for destruction. Better than any hero a modern film could depict, God intervened with the promise of restoration.

Because God got involved in man’s tragedy, redemption is available to all who call on the name of Jesus Christ. With guidance from the Holy Spirit, followers of Christ share this Good News with a broken world, desperate for the Gospel of Hope. A message of such magnitude can bring eternal transformation. Yet so often the beautiful message yields an unsightly response because so many are hardened by sin and hurt, blinded by trauma, or distracted by immediate health concerns.

The Body of Christ has been equipped to bring healing to the inner brokenness, emotional despair, and traumatic experiences of a person’s life. Christian counseling goes to these dark and hidden places with the light of Christ and the hope of restoration through His grace. While others may turn back because of the darkness, Christian counselors proceed with grace, so hearts scaled by shame are able to find freedom in forgiveness; hearts hardened by hatred are softened with love and those immobilized by fear are compelled by faith. Christian counseling must rise to the challenge and take whatever shape necessary to respond to the worldwide crisis of brokenness and spiritual darkness.

Christian counseling is significant because of the life-changing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the perpetual guidance by the Holy Spirit through the dark alleys of the soul into freedom from pain, shame, and guilt.

Christian counseling is unique because God is the healing agent—not the counselor. The intervention is a practical assimilation of skill, value, and knowledge consistent with Scripture and seasoned with grace applicable to the current situation. Treatment is planned and structured as well as spontaneously directed by the Holy Spirit. With this guidance from the Spirit, interventions become more relevant, powerful, and life changing. The counselor is sensitive to the direction of the Spirit and simultaneously diligent, as clinical training calls for thorough assessment, proper treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions.

The scars from broken relationships create deep-rooted pain that withstands the test of time. Freedom from that pain and suffering is found in the work of Christ. Through a trusting relationship, the Christian counselor can walk alongside the client in the journey toward healing and redemption.

Living Well Professional Counseling (LWC) was created to be your partner in that redemption work. Whether for you, a family member, or someone in your community, would you trust LWC to walk alongside you for the sake of healing? Call (501)737-4320 to begin the process.
