ROLAND, Ark. – Fresh Start Christian Women’s Job Corps (CWJC) hosted a tea and luncheon fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 12, at The Church at Pinnacle Mountain in Roland.
A compassion ministry of Woman’s Missionary Union, Christian Women’s Job Corps is geared toward “equipping women for life in a Christian context through career focused classes, Bible study and building meaningful relationships.”
“CWJC equips women in a Christian context for life and employment,” said Doris Reed, a coordinator at the Fresh Start site.
Through registered and certified CWJC sites across the nation, thousands of women each year gain self-confidence, purpose, direction, and hope for their future. The Fresh Start CWJC site, housed at The Church at Pinnacle Mountain, is in its seventh year.
The guest speaker at the luncheon was Susie Everett, a site coordinator for Women Equipped, a CWJC site in Saline County.
Everett shared a bit of her background and her testimony. She then played a video of CWJC Women Equipped graduate Summer, who was featured in the 2023 Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions campaign.
After sharing about Women Equipped and how God called her to ministry through CWJC, Everett called the ladies in attendance to action.
“God does not call the equipped. He equips the called. If you don’t feel adequate, you lean on the Lord, and He does the work through you. And when we say, yes, God changes lives, ours and those around us,” Everett said. “What ways do you need to say, yes, to God today?”
If one of those ways is to say, yes, to Fresh Start, Everett said there are several ways to be involved with the ministry, whether that be supplying a meal for students and volunteers or donating money for supplies and daily operations. Women can also get involved by becoming a journey partner. Journey partners provide guidance, encouragement, and prayer to clients through the program.
Reed said they are always looking for journey partners, “someone we match up with our participants to be an encouragement to them.”
Additionally, Everett encouraged folks to get involved through prayer, pray for the CWJC sites, the volunteers and the students.

The Arkansas WMU has five CWJC ministry sites around the state. Site coordinators from Women Equipped CWJC in Benton, Future & Hope CWJC in Paragould, Fresh Start CWJC in Roland, River Valley Christian Life Corps CWJC in Fort Smith, and new leaders from First Baptist Church in Searcy participated in continuing education training on Monday, Oct. 14, at the Arkansas Baptist State Convention building in Little Rock. Tonya Hancock, National WMU’s new Christian Job Corps consultant, led the training.
“Our site coordinators received valuable information about available scholarships, mentoring options, new discipleship materials, digital resources, and much more as they networked and learned from Tonya Hancock,” Arkansas WMU Executive Director Debbie Moore said.
