LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Campus ministers from community colleges and smaller college campuses around the state gathered in Little Rock this weekend to attend the Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC) Community College Winter Workshop.
“Our goal for this workshop each January is to offer a time of refreshment and equipping as we invest in those who serve on our smaller Arkansas campuses,” said ABSC Baptist Collegiate Ministry + Church Health Strategist Chris Larmoyeux.
During the two-day event, Jan. 16-17, campus ministers had the opportunity to discuss the vision, mission and culture of Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM), recap their fall semesters and fellowship together.
Campuses represented include Arkansas State University (ASU) Mountain Home, North Arkansas College, University of Arkansas Community College (UACC) Batesville, East Arkansas Community College, Southeast Arkansas College, National Park College, ASU Three Rivers, University of Arkansas Rich Mountain, Southern Arkansas University (SAU) Tech, and South Arkansas Community College, as well as Lyon College and the University of the Ozarks.
“God is making a big impact on our smaller campuses through regular people. The commitment of these campus ministers and local churches to reach students is truly inspiring. Among this group are many volunteers. Some are local pastors. Others are professors or other local professionals,” Larmoyeux said.
Lynn Loyd, who recently retired after 45 years of service with the convention, led sessions on how to build effective relationships and how to develop leaders.
