It is difficult to put into words the pressure and burden pastors carry. Even more difficult than carrying this burden is leading a church all while trying to be present as husband and father.
We have all heard the old joke that pastors only work a day and a half a week. We uncomfortably laugh when someone says that. Even if they are joking, something inside says “if they only knew.” It is for this reason that we hosted our first Shepherd’s Conference last year. It is our greatest desire for this conference to encourage pastors and minister to your heart. Whether you are in a difficult season of ministry or experiencing your best season of ministry, this conference is for you.
I am excited to share with you that our keynote speaker will be Dr. Bill Elliff. Dr. Elliff is no stranger to Arkansas Baptists. Dr. Elliff’s passion for prayer and spiritual renewal has earned him numerous opportunities to encourage and challenge followers of Christ throughout the world. We also have the tremendous pleasure of hosting Bishop WC Martin. Bishop Martin is the pastor of a rural church in East Texas which is featured in the upcoming movie, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot. Bishop Martin also serves as the National Ambassador at The Global Orphan Project. To conclude the conference, Dr. John McCallum will be offering encouragement as he speaks to the heart of pastors and church staff.
Lunch will be provided, and the conference is free. Please begin to make plans to join us on September 26, 2024, from 9am-3pm at ABCFM Central Office located at 9701 West Markham St., Little Rock, AR, 72205. Register at www.arkansasfamilies.org/shepherds-conference
