The Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC) Church Planting Team has experienced a few staff changes this summer.
In July, Team Leader Vince Blubaugh announced Church Planting Strategist Chanson Newborn would begin work with the North American Mission Board on Aug. 1. In his new role, Newborn is assisting Send Network South Regional Director George Ross with training in the South Region for the SEND Network.
“Chanson has done an exceptional job in his tenure with the ABSC, and I am confident that he will be a tremendous asset for George Ross, NAMB, and SEND Network,” Blubaugh said.
Chanson Newborn started with the ABSC in July 2020. He came to the ABSC from Fellowship Community Church (FCC) in Forrest City, the church he planted in 2013.
In the wake of Newborn’s exit to work for NAMB, the Church Planting Team moved Church Planting Strategist Jay Ham from part-time to full time. Additionally, Neal Scoggins has moved from the Evangelism + Church Health Team to the Church Planting Team to serve as a church planting strategist.
“Both Neal and Jay are great additions for us as they, along with Cherie (Estes) and Francisco (Gomez) are current church planting practitioners,” Blubaugh said.
