LITTLE ROCK – With the ongoing concern surrounding COVID-19, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention has decided to err on the side of caution and cancel all of this weekend’s events, including Inspire Women’s Conference in Russellville, the Block Party Training in Beebe, and the Disaster Relief Training in Cabot. Additional Disaster Relief training events will happen throughout the year. The Regional Prayer Gathering at Hot Springs Baptist in Hot Springs on Sunday evening has been postponed until further notice. Additionally, the Master’Singers Concerts of Worship in West Memphis and Warren scheduled for March 19 have been canceled.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience but would like to prioritize the health of all Arkansas Baptists. We will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days. We ask that you continue to pray for the state government making the hard decisions and for the health professionals caring for those impacted.
We encourage Arkansas Baptist churches to develop good procedures to protect your people as you have services in the next couple of weeks. This is a time for all Arkansas Baptists to deepen their connection to their church and to serve, pray, and give. We also encourage churches to focus on ministering effectively to those in your church who might be at risk. This is an opportunity for us to be Gospel lighthouses in the communities where God has planted our Arkansas Baptist churches.
