ABSC welcomes new staff members

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – From Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM) leaders to ministry assistants, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC) in recent months has welcomed a few new members to the team.

Luke Dawson is joining the ABSC team as campus minister for the BCM at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Dawson comes from the First Baptist Church in Monticello, where he served as student pastor.

“Luke will be a great leader in reaching the campus at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith and serving the local churches of the River Valley in evangelism, preaching, and Next Gen strategies. He’s a teacher of the Word and creative in telling the story of how God is working around us. I’m thankful the Lord led Luke, Carrie Beth, and their girls to this role,” said Warren Gasaway, ABSC Evangelism + Church Health and College + Young Leaders team leader.

Darrell Warberg was hired as the new campus minister for Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. He comes from the University of Memphis, where he served as a campus missionary, and Christian Brothers University, where he served as a campus ministry planter.

“We’re so excited to have Darrell as a Campus Minister at Henderson State University. Darrell is an authentic, thoughtful, strategic leader who knows how to build relationships with college students. He, his wife, Rebecca, their son, Noah, and their child on the way, come to us from the University of Memphis BCM. I know they will be a huge help to the churches in the Arkadelphia area,” Gasaway said.

Thomas Guinee, who previously served as assistant campus minister for the University of Arkansas BCM in Fayetteville, has taken on the campus minister role at Conway Baptist Ministry.

Additionally, joining the Church Health + Evangelism and College + Young Leaders Team are Hannah Guinee and Julianna Scoggins. Guinee comes from Cross Church in Northwest Arkansas and will serve as ministry coordinator for Evangelism + Church Health.

Scoggins, a former campus missionary for the University of Arkansas, comes from First Baptist Church in Sherwood. She will be a ministry assistant with many duties in BCM.

On the Missions Team, taking on the role of ministry assistant to the Missions Team is Chrissy King. King is replacing Miracle Ringo, who is answering God’s call in a move to Montana.

Additionally, Samantha Dixon, who has worked for the ABSC since 2020, recently began serving as ministry assistant to Disaster Relief. She replaced Keturah Quimby, who now works for Send Relief,

Born and raised here in Little Rock, Dixon has been a follower of Jesus since she was 8 but didn’t understand what it really meant to be a follower until 10th grade. She attends Hillcrest Community Church.

Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief has upcoming regional training events at First Baptist Jacksonville on August 10 and First Baptist Rogers-Olive Street on September 21.
