Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief on standby for winter weather

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief (ABDR) is on standby to assist impacted communities should the need arise as the potential of extreme cold and wintry weather threatens the state.

According to the National Weather Service, winter weather – from snow to freezing rain – is expected from Friday evening through Sunday morning, with the greatest impacts possible on Saturday afternoon. Dangerously cold temperatures are expected Saturday through Tuesday.

With freezing rain in the forecast for south Arkansas, ABDR Director Randy Garrett anticipates the likelihood of power outages.

“We’re ready and prepared to react to what we need to do,” Garrett said.
