Arkansas Baptists invited to celebrate WMU Sunday

Arkansas Baptists are invited on Sunday, Feb. 16, to celebrate the ways that God has worked through the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU).

Focus on WMU Sunday on the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Calendar of Activities is an intentional time to recognize what God is doing through WMU in the church to reach the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

“WMU believes in making disciples of Jesus who live on mission.  When we’re making disciples, we are training people to do what Jesus did.  I believe churches who provide missions discipleship – for preschoolers through adults – are encouraging people to grow in their faith as they learn about, pray for, support, and do missions,” Arkansas WMU Executive Director Debbie Moore said.

Since its beginning in 1888, WMU has helped raise more than $7 billion for missions through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering — efforts begun by WMU to support missionaries.

WMU’s unwavering focus is making disciples of Jesus who live on mission. WMU carries out this mission through providing missions discipleship resources, compassion ministries opportunities, and leadership development experiences.

In 2024, WMU’s craft stick houseboat project gave Southern Baptist churches a fun and interactive way to teach children about the Cooperative Program.
