On almost any given day throughout the year, Arkansas Baptist churches are actively meeting needs and sharing Jesus in their local communities.
Imagine the Kingdom impact across our state if an opportunity existed for all ABSC churches to engage their communities in missions and evangelism on the exact same day. That opportunity is now a reality, and it’s called One Day: Serve Local.
Serve Local is a missions movement that happens one day each year where churches plan and participate in service based mission projects to make kingdom impact in their local community. This results in ministry sites all across Arkansas where the Gospel is shared multiple times and many people find Jesus!
Pastor James Hayes and Valley Baptist Church of Searcy participated in the first Serve Local experience. When an evangelism team knocked on Pedro Figueiredo’s door, they had no idea that God was already working in that home and family. Because of their faithfulness, they were able to help Pedro move from knowledge of the Lord to a relationship with Christ as his Savior.
Pedro was baptized and immediately found ways to plug into Valley Baptist, including using the church’s Family Life Center to begin coaching the Brazilian sport of futsal. As families come to him, he works to connect the church to these families, that they, too, may hear the Gospel.
PRAYER POINTS: Pray for church leaders to mobilize their members to serve their community. Pray for barriers to be removed, for the Gospel presentation to be clear, and for people to be saved. Pray that those reached will grow and also begin to serve others.
When you give to your church, you give to missions through the Cooperative Program, bringing the Good News to the whole world. Find more CP resources at ABSC.org/CPShare.
