Three years ago, Rocky Bayou Associational Missionary Rick Hassell attended a Double Honor Ministries retreat. He’s been involved with the ministry ever since.
“I was sold my first day there,” he said.
Double Honor Ministries serves Christian pastors by providing a safe, refreshing, encouraging, and supportive environment through complimentary retreats, as well as through Pastor-to-Pastor mentoring, counseling, and encouragement.
Over his time with the ministry, Hassell has had the opportunity to engage and work with about 15 different pastors and wives from several different states through the retreats.
“I have continued to promote it because I have seen so many pastors who need a break, who need an opportunity to unwind,” he said.
Hassell said the retreats provide rest and reflection to pastors and wives – at almost no cost to the pastor. It is a dynamic ministry, supporting church leadership. The retreats typically run from a Monday afternoon through Friday.
Each retreat is structured to facilitate three to five couples and will include a daily Group Encouragement Sessions. Guests are free to share as much or as little information as they feel comfortable under confidential terms.
“It is intended as an opportunity for pastors to get away, to rest and refresh. And if they need a time to unwind and find some encouragement, we’re there as needed,” he said.

“These retreats tend to fill up pretty quickly. If pastors are interested, they need to act when the opportunity is available,” Hassell said.
