Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief (ABDR) has finalized regional training events for 2025.
Trainings will be:
- March 15 at Nettleton Baptist Church in Jonesboro
- April 26 at Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock
- Aug. 9 at New Life Baptist Church in Alexander
- Sept. 6 at First Baptist Church – Olive St. in Rogers
ABDR extends the love of Christ to disaster survivors by preparing hot meals, removing damaging trees and debris, tarping roofs, shoveling mud, providing emergency communications, and coordinating the response through Incident Command leadership.
In a recent ABN article following her deployment to Valdosta, Georgia, to aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Janet Fryar said Disaster Relief volunteers get to share Christ everywhere they go.
“Sometimes, what you see is, there is not an openness in America to share the Gospel but when a person is in need and you are meeting a need for them, they are willing to talk with you,” Fryar previously said. “That is the reason that we go – to share Christ everywhere we go.”
ABDR Director Randy Garrett said they are looking forward to seeing both current volunteers and those that wish to become volunteers at the regional training events.
The training provides an opportunity to see the fellowship of Disaster Relief and learn what Disaster Relief is all about. Garrett said folks either say, “We love it,” or “That’s not for me.”
“That being said, if you don’t want to run a chainsaw or cook the food, all good Baptists can always be chaplains for Disaster Relief. Come join us and become part of the team. We’d love to see ya,” he said.
Registration for the 2025 training events will open in the new year. For more information on ABDR, visit abscdisasterrelief.org.
