Medical-dental clinic records 28 professions of faith

The Missions Team held its first medical-dental clinic of the year on April 29 at Iglesia Bautista Roca Fuerte (Strong Rock Baptist Church) in Little Rock. According to Missions Team Leader Sam Roberts, this was the first time that a clinic was held in one of the Hispanic church plants, and 58 patients registered.

Medical and dental clinics are an excellent avenue for the local church to meet needs and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Approximately 10-12 clinics are held each year across the state, meeting the needs of the underserved in our communities. While attending to people’s immediate physical needs, volunteers are also able to minister to their spiritual needs. After registering, each patient has a one-on-one conversation with a volunteer, where the Gospel is clearly shared, and people are given an opportunity to place their faith in Jesus. This recent clinic saw 28 professions of faith as a result of these conversations!

Pastor Francisco Gomez said, “This was our first medical and dental clinic in our new facilities. This event helped to serve the community with the love of Christ and to make known that the Hispanic community has a church that cares not just for the soul but for the body also.”

All medical and dental services, including x-rays, cleanings, and extractions, are provided free of charge through the faithful giving of Arkansas Baptists to the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering.

The Medical-Dental Missions Team is actively recruiting medical professionals for upcoming clinics, especially doctors, dentists and hygienists. If you are interested in learning how you can serve, contact Jennifer Allbritton, Medical-Dental Coordinator, at (870) 450-1855 or at [email protected]
