[Meet your AM] Strengthening churches within association is a goal for Danny Green

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Danny Green has been serving as associational missionary for the Arkansas River Valley Baptist Association since 2015.

His goal: Do everything he can on the associational level “to strengthen our churches.” The Arkansas River Valley Baptist Association is made up of 33 churches and one mission organization.

“I’ve always been very involved with the association and fell in love with it,” he said. “I was eaten up with associational missions from day one in the ministry.”

Green and his wife, Teresa, live in London, where he served for 23 years as senior pastor at First Baptist Church, an Arkansas River Valley Baptist Association church. He attended Southwestern Theological Baptist Seminary.

“I had the privilege of already knowing not only all the pastors but most of the churches’ members when I became associational missionary. They knew my heart,” he said.

Every year, the association hosts a pastors and wives Christmas party. It also provides a Vacation Bible School clinic and builds props for whatever Lifeway’s theme is for that year.

In 2017, the association began an annual teaching training for Sunday school teachers.

“That has grown. Now, we do a partnership with surrounding associations,” Green said.

Additionally, the association hosts camp every summer. This year, they had 334 campers from 19 churches, including four from outside the association, make the trip to Spring Lake Baptist Camp and Retreat Center. They recorded 74 professions of faith and 23 rededications. Green said they try to keep the annual church camp more evangelism focused rather than discipleship driven.

The association is also very missions minded, organizing a missions trip each year. This year, a group embarked on a missions trip to the Arkansas Delta, bringing hope and encouragement to some of the churches serving the region.
