[Perspective] The responsibility of faith

Walking in faith is not easy. Taking a step in faith often feels like choosing failure. At times, acting in faith can even seem to create danger for those for which we are responsible. The 12 spies that Moses sent into Canaan (Numbers 13) surely experienced this conflict. As leaders of the 12 tribes of Israel, they had the safety of their people to consider, and failure in battle seemed too great a risk.

Ultimately, the spies chose the security of what they could see over faith in what they could not. This choice sentenced their people to another 40 years in the desert. When safety was valued over faith, their children and families suffered the greatest harm. The consequences of failing to step out in faith are not merely personal—they are intergenerational. The children of the next generation are counting on our steps of faith today. With the growing state of brokenness, the cost of inaction is just too great.

Even when everyone else said it could not be done, Joshua and Caleb continued to respond with faith. Because of their faith, God led the next generation into the promised land. Across our organization, we see similar steps of faith, resulting in transformed lives. These impacts are evident every day, inspiring and convicting us all. Imagine the lives that could be changed if we all fully embraced our faith and walked accordingly.
