Little Rock, Ark. – World Changers provides hands-on mission experiences that assist churches in developing students spiritually. Through construction, students actively meet the needs of communities across North America, putting their faith into action by serving others and sharing the Gospel.
For 21 years, World Changers has partnered with the city of Little Rock to share the love of Christ and proclaim the truth of the Gospel to the residents of the capital city by renovating houses in the downtown area. The city provides the houses, all construction materials, and personnel to assist with inspections and oversight. World Changers provides the labor in the form of students and their adult leaders from churches across the United States.
During the week of July 14-19, 140 volunteers from eight different churches partnered together to work on 12 different houses. Students came from Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, and Illinois. They paid their own way and spent the week at Life Line Baptist Church where they slept on the floor and took showers in shower trailers provided by First Baptist Church in Ozark and Mount Zion Baptist Association.
The Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief feeding team from Little Rock, led by Jan Harper, fed the volunteers breakfast and supper during the week. Lunches were provided by local ABSC churches and organized by Don Chancellor, Associational Missionary for Pulaski Baptist Association.
The students spent the week meeting physical needs by scraping and painting houses. However, if you were to ask any of the participants, they would tell you that the real reason they came was to help meet spiritual needs. During the week, World Changers participants had the opportunity to visit and pray with the homeowners. They also had opportunities to talk to several others as they passed by the work sites. In total, World Changers volunteers prayed and shared the Gospel with 30 people which resulted in six professions of faith.
