“Our greatest joy is seeing Southeast Asian churches send out their own missionaries to plant churches among unreached people groups.”
For the past 19 years Joel and Kellie, who met each other while studying at Ouachita Baptist University, have served among unreached people groups in Southeast Asia. Kellie currently teaches at an international school and Joel trains Southeast Asian pastors and missionaries to reach their unreached neighbors.
Recently, a family traveled from a remote island to their city because their young children needed surgery. However, soon after they arrived, the hospital would only take COVID patients and travel restrictions would not allow them to return home. They had no money and no options. But a gracious Christian family allowed them to stay in an empty house near another IMB family, who began visiting with them and eventually introduced them to Joel and Kellie.
God used them, Southeast Asian believers, and even churches in Arkansas to bless this family. Their children received their needed surgeries, and the parents received the Gospel! After almost a year, they were finally able to return home and are now the only believers on their remote island.
Pray for their national partners as they begin to disciple this family. Pray that a house church will be planted on their island. And pray for Joel and Kellie to continue ministering with favor and boldness among them.
When you give to your church, you give to missions through the Cooperative Program, bringing the Good News to the whole world. Find more CP resources at ABSC.org/CPShare.
