LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief (ABDR) is on standby to assist impacted communities should the need arise as the potential of extreme cold and wintry weather threatens the state.
Already, ABDR has a feeding unit set up at the warming center at Northside Church of Christ, 917 N. East St., in Benton, located next to Saline Memorial Hospital. The warming center is scheduled to open at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14.
ABDR was contacted by another possible shelter in Cabot.
Temperatures across the state are expected to plummet this weekend, dropping to below freezing from Sunday through Tuesday. A significant measurable snow is likely Sunday evening into Monday.
