‘Around the State’ is a segment in the eMagazine that goes out every other Thursday to our email subscriber list. In this segment, we feature church staff changes, as well as church news and announcements you send to us. We want Arkansas Baptists to know what’s going on around the state and be able to celebrate together and encourage each other.  

Here are recent updates from “around the state.”  

  • Matthew Shepherd, a member of First Baptist Church in El Dorado, is serving a third term as Speaker of the Arkansas House of Representatives.  
  • Bart Hester, a member of First Baptist Church in Bentonville, will lead the Arkansas State Senate in 2023 as President Pro Tempore.  
  • Ken Siler was recently called to serve as Associate Pastor of Worship and Family Ministry at First Baptist Church in Forrest City.  
  • Mark Williams began serving as Pastor at Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church on March 6.  
  • Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock will celebrate the church’s 75th anniversary on Sunday, April 24. Ken Shaddox is Pastor.  
  • Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cabot will celebrate Pastor Terry Fortner’s 25th anniversary on Sunday, April 24.  
  • Three southwest Arkansas churches’ women’s ministries are co-hosting the Lifeway Women Simulcast on April 30 at Trinity Baptist Church in Texarkana.  
  • Greg Addison has accepted the call to serve as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church in Fort Smith.  
  • Jamie Naramore has moved from the Missions Team to the Church Planting Team where he will continue with internationals.  
  • Brandon Groce joined the staff of the ABSC on March 28 as the Lead Accountant in the business office.  
  • Jonda Shikle has moved from the College + Young Leaders Team to work in the business office replacing Donna Mathis in Gifts and Accounts Receivable.
