“There are lost people everywhere wandering around in circles and in need of a shepherd, but most of them will never come to us.  We have to go to them.”

A few years ago, God put the lost in North Little Rock on the heart of Roderick Rogers. Though he was happily pastoring Fordyce Community Baptist Church, he left his job with the school district to focus on ministry in an area completely new to him.  “God was blessing us in Fordyce,” Roderick said.  “But I just couldn’t shake His call, and after meeting a family member while doing outreach in North Little Rock, God confirmed this is where we were supposed to be.”

His core team has been doing ministry in the Rose City community for the past couple of years, and outreach has become essential to the identity of Surrender Church.  Through block parties, sports camps and food and coat distributions, Roderick and his team have seen the excitement grow for the new church in the community.

And being sent out by The Summit Church in North Little Rock, they have also found that having a partner church is instrumental to their planting efforts.  “Not only do they partner with us in prayer, but they are joining us hand-in-hand to help resource our outreach, help with building repairs and provide small group training for our leaders.”

Let us thank God for churches who partner together to plant churches.  Let us also pray for God to give Surrender Church a highway for the Gospel in Rose City, especially among local schools.  And let us pray for godly wisdom among the core team and for strong relationships for Roderick’s family.
