Each year, around this time at the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting (SBC), a Sending Celebration is hosted to pray and celebrate new missionaries being sent out by the International Mission Board (IMB).

As a result of COVID-19, the SBC annual meeting was canceled but the IMB felt that the Sending Celebration should still take place. So they planned a virtual celebration.

On June 9th at 6 p.m. CT, join IMB on their Facebook or Vimeo pages, along with other churches across the nation, as they host their annual Send Celebration. You’ll hear stories of how God has called these 61 missionaries into His service, and you’ll also be able to join in praying over them as they prepare to make their homes overseas for the sake of the Gospel.

Since 1825, almost 25,000 Southern Baptist missionaries have been sent out to 185 different countries around the world to share the gospel, make disciples, and plant churches. All of this is made possible through Southern Baptists’ gifts through the Cooperative Program.

When Arkansas Baptists give through their church, their church designates a portion of those financial gifts to the Cooperative Program. This means the money you gave went directly to these 61 missionaries to help equip, train, and have resources made available to them as they enter the mission field where God has called them.

As Arkansas Baptists, it’s our responsibility to pray for these missionaries and continue to participate in cooperative missions. Use it as a reminder to continually pray for the individuals and their families by name.
