[Ministry Spotlight] Mission:Dignity® recipients again receive 13th check thanks to efforts of the Arkansas Baptist Foundation

By Roy Hayhurst

Mission:Dignity® recipients in Arkansas are receiving an extra blessing to start the year thanks to the Arkansas Baptist Foundation.

For the fourth year in a row, recipients received this “13th Check” due to a fund established at the foundation.

“The Scripture is clear that ‘the elders who are good leaders are to be considered worthy of double honor,’” Mission:Dignity Director Aaron Meraz said. “Thanks to our generous donors, we can support over 2,800 retired ministers and other church workers or widows monthly. Efforts like these 13th check arrangements mean that these well-deserving saints can have an additional blessing to help them pay for basic necessities and additional needs.”

Last year, 20 state conventions and/or foundations provided extra benefits like the 13th check to Mission:Dignity recipients.

“One of the most rewarding parts of our work here at the Arkansas Baptist Foundation is our continued partnership with GuideStone in offering the Mission:Dignity 13th Check Fund,” said Bobby Thomas, president and CEO of the Arkansas Baptist Foundation. “This partnership allows us to invest in the lives of retired ministers, workers and widows in Arkansas and see the impact these funds have had on recipients. We are truly blessed to hear the stories of these faithful servants of the Lord and humbled to be able to encourage them with financial support.”

GuideStone® President Hance Dilbeck offered his thanks on behalf of Mission: Dignity’s recipients.

“We give thanks to the Lord for the Arkansas Baptist Foundation’s efforts to provide an extra blessing to these retired ministers or their widows in their declining years,” Dilbeck said. “It is through the generosity of God’s people that we can carry out this important mission to provide dignity to his servants.”
