Marissa Pilcher: the beloved face behind the ABSC socials transitions to Virginia

In March of 2016, Nick Burt – the Arkansas Baptist State Convention’s (ABSC) Assistant Communications Director – was hired to direct the communications of the ABSC. In November of 2017, Marissa Pilcher joined the team as the “Production Coordinator.” Since October of 2018, her title has been “Social Media Manager.”

Pilcher is a 2017 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, where she completed her BA in Communications and Spanish. She was helpful in growing multiple outlets for communication on Ouachita’s campus, such as the “Humans of OBU” Instagram account.

At the ABSC, Pilcher has helped develop the social media outlets, websites, photography and more for the ministries through the ABSC. But to Pilcher, the tasks haven’t been what have made the job the best. Pilcher said, “It’s the people and the relationships made that make this place and the past few years special.”

“Projects like #meetourstaff have been a true joy of my career – getting to know the people who make up the ABSC and also sharing that with the Arkansas Baptist community. This has been fun, as well as getting to attend the many ABSC ministry events which helped me create relationships with different people around the state.”

Pilcher is loved by her fellow co-workers, and she is a welcoming person who makes Arkansas Baptists feel championed and encouraged. In her time at the ABSC, her co-workers attest that she has added much joy and fun to the work environment. As she embarks on a new journey in Virginia, we thank her for her time of service at the ABSC.
